Digital EducationServices (DES) is located in the J.B. Beck Adminstrative Building. DES receives programming from SCETV and is able to then rebroadcast those programs to all of the schools in the district. DES also has a broadcast studio, and GCSD is able to broadcast live programming. Events, such as the monthly Board of Education meeting, are broadcast over the government access channel provided by Time Warner Cable TV and Southern Cable TV.
In addition, GCSD has two-way videoconferencing equipment in all four high schools and at the district office. Class offerings such as AP English and AP calculus are being taught via the videoconferencing equipment. Teachers are also able to take advantage of professional development opportunities from sites such as The Library of Congress and NASA using the distance learning equipment.
