WHS Wins Zone Cup

Waccamaw High School has won the 2008-09 WPDE Zone Cup as having the area's best overall athletics program. Last year the Warriors had state champions in boys tennis and boys golf and the softball team advanced to the state finals. Waccamaw also won the Zone Cup in 2005-06 and 2006-07. Waccamaw High is the only school to win the award three times. Principal David Hammel, shown accepting the Zone Cup with Athletics Director Joan Cribb and representatives from the school's teams, said he expects the Warriors to be a strong contender for a fourth Zone Cup this year.
