Hospital Employees Donate To Healthy Learners
Georgetown Hospital System employees donated $24,752 to Healthy Learners, a nonprofit organization devoted to removing children’s health barriers to learning with love and compassion. The financial donations collected during the 2008-09 Employee Campaign will be used to assist Healthy Learners Georgetown in continuing to provide access to basic health care services for uninsured and under-insured children in the Georgetown County School District.
The services provided to identified, eligible school age children are: Access to Counseling; Care Coordination; Dental Care; Evaluation and Treatment for Acute Episodes of Illness; Evaluation and Treatment of Hearing; Evaluation and Treatment of Vision; and Medication. In addition to providing access to this care, Healthy Learners also provides transportation to those children who face transportation as a barrier to receiving health care. The costs incurred for all of the services provided are absorbed by Healthy Learners.
