Second Round of H1N1 Vaccinations Scheduled

DHEC has released its schedule for the second round of H1N1 vaccinations in the Georgetown County School District. Studies have shown that children younger than 10 years of age need two H1N1 vaccinations to be protected. For children younger than 10 in the Georgetown County School District, who have already taken then first vaccination when it was offered in early November, the second vaccination will be offered at the following: Monday, December 7, at Kensington, Andrews and Maryville elementary schools and at Waccamaw Intermediate School, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. On Tuesday, December 8, at Pleasant Hill, Waccamaw, Sampit and McDonald elementary schools from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Vaccinations at Plantersville Elementary will be in the morning, and Brown's Ferry Elementary will be in the afternoon on December 8.

Consent forms will be sent home to parents on Monday, November 30, for children younger than 10 who have received the first vaccination. Parents can decide if they want their child to receive the second vaccination that is being offered. Deadline to return the forms is Thursday, December 3.

Students at Andrews Elementary School who were signed up in early November but who did not get their vaccination because time ran out will be offered the vaccination on Monday, December 7.
