First Round of H1N1 Vaccinations Complete

The first round of H1N1 flu vaccinations in the district was completed on November 5 as students were offered shots in nine elementary schools and one intermediate school. DHEC chose to begin with the younger children because they are in a higher H1N1 risk category. When more vaccine doses become available, they will be offered at middle and high schools. Vaccinations were administered by nurses from DHEC, Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Waccamaw Community Hospital. While not many of the children who received the vaccination looked forward to it, most did agree the dread was much worse than the actual shot.
