Local Unit Leaves for Afghanistan

The 178th Field Artillery unit, which includes several individuals employed with the Georgetown County School District or with relatives in the district, had an emotional send off January 6 to Afghanistan from the National Guard Armory buildings in Georgetown and Andrews. Many people waving American Flags lined the highways outside the armories in a sign of support for our departing troops. Good luck to our soldiers and return home safely!
