McDonald Students to Appear on Fox WTAT
Students in McDonald Elementary SCE&G's Brainiacs club are about to show many people in the Lowcountry just how smart they are. WTAT Fox 24 in Charleston recently visited the school to tape students for upcoming segments of "Brain Busters" that appear on WTAT broadcasts of the popular show "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" McDonald's students will rotate with other area students in the "Brain Buster" segments, which run once per show Monday through Friday at 7 p.m. through May 21. In most weeks McDonald students will appear on two or three shows.
At the beginning of each "Brain Buster" segment of the local SCE&G commercial, a student asks a question before a commercial break. Then the student is shown again giving a clue to the answer. After another commercial, the student provides the correct answer.
At the recent taping at McDonald, students took turns reading their questions, clues and answers. All students who participated are part of the SCE&G Homework Center, which is also known at McDonald as the SCE&G Brainiacs. SCE&G is in its third year of funding homework centers at McDonald and Sampit elementary schools.
Be sure to watch Charleston's Fox WTAT at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday where you just may see a McDonald Elementary Brainiac student testing you to find out if you are smarter than a fifth grader.
