Rosemary's Savannah Birt Honored by Board

Seventh-grade Rosemary Middle School student Savannah Birt, 13, has attracted a lot of well-deserved attention since she recently rushed into a cold pond to save a 3-year-old child from drowning. For her bravery and heroism, Savannah was honored at the March 2 School Board Meeting. Rosemary Middle School Principal Mike Caviris introduced Savannah to the board members and described how she disregarded her safety to rescue one of her young neighbors. Caviris presented Savannah a plaque from Rosemary Middle School and a framed certificate from the Board of Education. Savannah's family was also recognized. From left are Rosemary Middle Principal Mike Caviris, Savannah Birt, Superintendent Dr. Randy Dozier, and Board Chairman Jim Dumm. Great job, Savannah!
