At the September 6, 2022 GCSD Board Meeting, Dr. Pamela Vereen was named Director of College and Career Readiness. She replaces LaPariscena Singleton who retired at the end of July.

Superintendent Keith Price said, “Dr. Vereen has contributed to the success of Georgetown County School District in a number of ways throughout her time with us. As we work collaboratively and intentionally to increase the percentage of students who graduate college and career ready, Dr. Vereen’s leadership and vision will help ensure we reach our goals.  I’m excited to have her as our new Director.”

Vereen joined the GCSD family in 2000 as a science teacher at Waccamaw High. In 2010, she was named Science Curriculum Coach for the district and in 2019 moved to her current position as Director of the Georgetown Career Center.

I look forward to building on the strong CTE foundation we have in place in our district,” said Vereen. “My goal is to work with all stakeholders to improve and increase program offerings that will better position our students to be productive in the college and/or career path of their choosing.”

Vereen holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Winthrop University; a Masters of Education in secondary education - science emphasis from Winthrop University; an Educational Specialist degree in secondary administration from South Carolina State University; and a Doctorate of Education in educational leadership from South Carolina State University.
