Maricel González, Spanish teacher at Waccamaw High, has been named the 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year for Georgetown County School District. González was notified at school Tuesday afternoon during a surprise visit from her husband Lewis Gonzalez and GCSD Superintendent Keith Price. Other finalist were Macey Owens, George Geer III, Laura Miller, and Kimberly Wall.
