Federal Programs Overview

Title I: The purpose of Title I, Part A of Public Law 107-110, is to enable schools to provide opportunities for children served to acquire the knowledge and skills contained in the challenging state content standards and to meet the challenging state performance standards developed for all children.

Title II: The purpose of ESEA Title II, Part A is to assist states and school districts in ensuring that all students have access to effective teachers. These teachers should possess the necessary subject-matter knowledge and teaching skills to help all children achieve high academic standards, regardless of their individual learning styles or needs. The program provides significant funding to help states and districts recruit, train, reward, and retain effective teachers.

Title IX and Section 504: Non-Discrimination Declaration: The Georgetown County School District is committed to eliminating all forms of discrimination in its policies and operations and is dedicated to full compliance with the law.

Title I Schools

We currently have 12 Title I schools in our district. Those schools are: Andrews Elementary, Andrews High, Brown's Ferry Elementary, Carvers Bay High, Carvers Bay Middle, Georgetown Middle, Maryville Elementary, McDonald Elementary, Plantersville Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, Rosemary Middle, and Sampit Elementary. Qualification for funding is based on Pupil in Poverty (PIP) and census data.

Title I Concerns, Complaints or Suggestions

Concerns, complaints or suggestions may be submitted by contacting the school’s principal or by placing comments/suggestions in the school’s Suggestion Box.

To appeal a school-level decision, please submit your concern, complaint or suggestion in writing to:

All concerns, complaints or suggestions received will be addressed in a reasonable manner, not to exceed three weeks.
