Georgetown County School District Earns National Recognition for Excellence in Financial Reporting

Georgetown, S.C. — The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Georgetown County School District (GCSD) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.

GCSD’s report was evaluated by an impartial panel and determined to meet the rigorous standards of the GFOA program, including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure and clearly communicating the district’s financial information.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government entity.

This year’s award marks the 31st consecutive year Georgetown County School District has received the Certificate of Achievement, highlighting the district’s longstanding commitment to fiscal responsibility, accountability, and transparency.

“We are proud of the consistency and integrity reflected in this recognition,” said Superintendent Dr. Bethany A. Giles. “Earning this award for the 31st consecutive year speaks to the dedication and professionalism of our Business Services team and our district’s continued focus on responsible financial stewardship.”
