Congratulations to the Navy JROTC Marksmanship Team who hosted and competed in the first ever Biathlon here at Georgetown High School. On Saturday our Marksmanship team hosted 9 teams from North and South Carolina to compete in the first ever Biathlon which they named “The Swamp Fox Biathlon”. The Biathlon consisted of an academic lesson about Francis Marion, The Swamp Fox, by local Georgetown historian Paige Sawyer followed by a 20 question exam. The exam was followed by the course of fire which consisted of running over 1.25 miles while taking a prone record shot every ¼ mile. Scores were combined for all events to determine the top three teams. Our Marksmanship team took 1st and 2nd place overall!
