GCSD is adjusting the daily end times for elementary and intermediate students for the 2023-2024 school year. The changes come following requests from elementary principals and parents.
“We believe these new school hours will have a significant impact on student achievement,” said Superintendent Keith Price. “Our decision to extend the school day for elementary and intermediate students stems from discussions with principals and concerns expressed by parents. Adding fifteen minutes to each school day may not seem like much, but over the course of 180 days we are looking at adding an additional 2,700 minutes or 45 hours of instruction. We are continually looking for ways to help our students succeed in their chosen pathway, and we feel approving this request is a step in the right direction.”
