🍁 Pumpkin Exploration in Mrs. Snowden’s Class! 🎃
This week, our students dove into the world of descriptive writing with an autumn twist! Using all five senses, they explored pumpkins inside and out—feeling the rough skin, smelling the earthy scent, seeing the bright orange color, tasting pumpkin seeds, and hearing the sounds of scooping and cutting. They took three-column notes, filling them with descriptive words, phrases, and colorful illustrations of what they observed. ✍️🖍️
Descriptive writing is a critical skill that allows students to express themselves creatively and vividly. It builds a strong foundation for other skills, such as persuasive and narrative writing, by helping students learn to organize their thoughts and choose precise words. It also sharpens their observation skills and deepens their vocabulary, creating confident writers ready to tackle all kinds of writing tasks!

📢 Attention 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Bengal Families!
Next week, our students will be taking the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test), which assesses their reasoning and problem-solving skills across three areas: Verbal, Quantitative, and Nonverbal abilities. These important skills are used for learning and understanding new information, so it’s a great way to see how your child thinks and learns!
✨ Tips for Success:
1️⃣ Ensure your child gets a good night's sleep.
2️⃣ Arrive on time to school so they can settle in before the test.
3️⃣ Encourage a healthy breakfast to fuel their brain power.
4️⃣ Remind them to stay calm—this is just one way we assess their learning.
Let’s help our students be their best! 💪🎓 #CogAT #TestReady #StudentSuccess
