On the evening of May 12, 2026, the Georgetown County School District gathered at Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club to celebrate excellence during the annual “Of the Year” Gala. It was truly a night to remember as Georgetown Middle School proudly represented BIG BLUE with three outstanding finalists. Many would say this moment will go down in history for the school community.
Representing Georgetown Middle School were Administrator of the Year finalist Principal Seth Hillman, Teacher of the Year finalist Eric Baril, and Support Staff of the Year finalist Muryel Sumpter. Their dedication, leadership, and commitment to students continue to leave a lasting impact throughout the halls of BIG BLUE.
Georgetown Middle School has truly stepped out of the shadows and into a bright season of success, leadership, and excellence. Every morning, Mr. Hillman begins the school announcements by saying, “Good morning to the best, the brightest, and the most beautiful.” Those words are more than just a greeting. They reflect the culture, pride, and spirit that fill the building each day among students, teachers, and staff.
At BIG BLUE, the staff and students continue to make the best out of every opportunity and challenge placed before them. The accomplishments celebrated during the gala are a reflection of teamwork, determination, and a school family that believes in one another.
A huge congratulations goes out to all of the finalists from Georgetown Middle School. Special congratulations to Mr. Hillman for being named Administrator of the Year 2026–2027 and to Mrs. Sumpter for being named Support Staff of the Year 2026–2027.
Congratulations as well to Eric Baril for being a Teacher of the Year finalist. Although he did not receive the district title, he will always be OUR Teacher of the Year at BIG BLUE. Thank you, Mr. Baril, for your dedication, leadership, and the countless ways you support and inspire students each and every day. We appreciate all that you do.
