We want to remind everyone of our morning drop-off procedures and ask for your help in keeping arrival safe and efficient for all of our students and families.

Morning Car Rider Route

All morning drop-off traffic should:

Travel along Britt Street and enter the front loop.

Once in the loop, pull forward as far as possible before allowing your child to exit. Pulling all the way forward allows us to unload more vehicles at one time and keeps traffic moving.

After dropping off your child, exit down Poplar Street.

We have recently noticed an increase in vehicles parking or stopping along the roads near the school and allowing children to walk across the street to campus. While we understand that this may seem like a quicker option, it creates a significant safety concern.

Students who are designated walkers are monitored by our crossing guard at the appropriate crossing location. Crossing Poplar Street at other points is not part of our designated arrival route, and school personnel are not stationed in those areas to supervise students. Of particular concern, we have seen young children being allowed to navigate between parked and moving vehicles without an adult present.

Vehicles stopping or parking along the sides of the road also create additional congestion. When the sides of the roadway remain clear and everyone follows the established traffic pattern, vehicles have better visibility and the entire drop-off line moves more quickly and safely.

Our goal is not simply to manage traffic - it is to make sure every child arrives at school safely each morning. We cannot provide appropriate supervision or ensure student safety when children are dropped off outside of the designated area or cross the roadway at unmonitored locations.

Please help us by using the front loop for all car rider drop-offs and following the established traffic pattern each morning. A few extra minutes in the car line are worth ensuring that every student enters our school safely.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and commitment to keeping our Colts safe!
