Dear Families:
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. AND—as always—every purchase at the Fair benefits our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the big event, which will take place from November 13th - November 17th
Say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Book Fair online. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/gatorreads . The countdown to more Book joy is on! Catch you at the Fair!
Happy reading!
If you plan to come for our Thanksgiving Lunch on the 16th please drop in the fair. I am sure teachers will let your children out of class/recess so that you can visit the fair together.

Gator Families,
In order to improve students' understanding of math concepts and help increase schoolwide achievement, WIS is promoting math both inside and outside of school using real world examples through our Family Math Opportunity. If you and your child would like to take part in this opportunity, have your child stop by the front office to pick up the information or click the link below. A special thanks to our PTO for donating the prizes.

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is picture day at WIS.

If you are not receiving emails from the district or school, please check your spam/junk folders for missing emails. The emails will either come from @gcsd.k12.sc.us or @GeorgetownCountySchoolDistrict.k12.sc.us. Please mark these emails as “not spam/junk”, so they will go to your inbox. If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Gator Community,
The WHSABC is offering All Sports Passes for WES and WIS students. These passes can be used for any regular season WHS sporting event.

In an abundance of caution due to expected inclement weather, all GCSD schools will have an eLearning day on Thursday, August 31, 2023. This means all schools and facilities will be closed on Thursday. In addition, all after-school activities for Wednesday, August 30 are canceled. GCSD is an approved eLearning district, so Thursday, August 31 will not have to be made up, and asynchronous instruction will be provided to all students. Pre-K - 2nd grade students will receive paper packets, and 3rd - 12th grade students will be assigned lessons through Google Classroom. Specific instructions will be communicated to students and parents from their students’ teachers and schools. All assignments must be completed and turned in within three school days (Wednesday, September 7, 2023) in order for a student to be marked present for the eLearning day. At this time, if conditions allow, athletic practices (not requiring bus transportation) may resume on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Athletic competitions scheduled for Thursday afternoon are canceled and/or postponed due to wind gusts that may exceed allowable speeds for bus operation. Student-athletes are encouraged to coordinate with their coaches for specific details. GCSD district administration will continue to monitor conditions across our county. We expect a return to normal operations on Friday, September 1, 2023. Please check local media, the district website, and our social media page for the latest information on school closings or delays. Visit the GCSD Technology Resource Center for more information on eLearning - https://sites.google.com/gcsd.k12.sc.us/gcsd-elearning/home?authuser=0
