2025 Dr. Celeste Pringle Turnaround Achievement Award Winners

Georgetown, SC – Georgetown County School District (GCSD) proudly recognized twenty students from across the district as recipients of the 2025 Dr. Celeste Pringle Turnaround Achievement Award during the May 6 Board of Education meeting.

Now in its second year, the Turnaround Achievement Award honors students who have demonstrated remarkable personal growth and perseverance. The award recognizes not only academic performance, but also significant improvements in attitude, behavior, and attendance. Students selected for this honor have exhibited a strong commitment to getting back on track and achieving success in their educational journey.

“The Dr. Celeste Pringle Turnaround Achievement Award celebrates the resilience and determination of students who have made positive changes in their lives,” said Dr. Bethany A. Giles, Superintendent of Georgetown County School District. “These students have not only improved academically but have also become role models within their schools.”

To be eligible for the award, students must be in good standing in academics, attendance, and behavior for the current school year. This includes passing all courses, having no suspendable offenses, and maintaining regular school attendance.

The 2025 recipients are:

  • Donte’ Smith – Andrews Elementary School

  • Robin Lea Carey – Andrews High School

  • Tedrick Haiden-Maxwell Reid – Brown’s Ferry Elementary School for the Creative and Performing Arts

  • Anton Conyers – Carvers Bay Early College & Career High School

  • Alicia Henderson – Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy

  • Drew Weigel – Coastal Montessori Charter School

  • Qua’Shaun Morant – Georgetown County Adult Education

  • Destiny Terriyonna Grayson – Georgetown High School

  • Miriam Reed – Georgetown Middle School

  • Emmanuel Hernandez Santiago – Kensington Elementary School

  • Brandon Carter Brown – Maryville Elementary School

  • Ava Hurdle – McDonald Elementary School

  • Ja’Niyah Cumbee – Plantersville Elementary Digital Immersion School

  • Javier Pittman – Pleasant Hill Elementary STREAM Academy

  • Kenneth McKnight – Rosemary Middle School

  • Adalynn Lambert – Sampit Elementary School

  • Javier Montana Clark – Waccamaw Elementary School
