All GCSD Students Continue to Receive Free Breakfast & Lunch

Georgetown, S.C. – In compliance with the National School Lunch Act at 42 U.S.C. 1759(a) and Proviso 1.68, the Georgetown County School District Board of Trustees reaffirmed its participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) during its November 2025 meeting.

As a result, all students enrolled in Georgetown County School District (GCSD) will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2025–26 school year.

GCSD Board Chair Keith Moore emphasized the importance of the district’s ongoing participation in CEP. “Ensuring that every child has access to nutritious meals is one of the most meaningful ways we can support student learning,” Moore said. “When students know they can count on a healthy breakfast and lunch each day, they are better prepared to stay focused, engaged, and successful in the classroom. This is a commitment we are proud to continue.”

GCSD anticipates that district-wide CEP participation will once again strengthen meal engagement. During the 2024–25 school year, GCSD served 1,423,203 school meals, and the district expects participation to continue to rise as families benefit from the no-cost meal program.

“We’re grateful to be able to provide every child with breakfast and lunch at no cost,” said Teresa Gamble, Coordinator of Food Services. “For many families, this makes the school day a little easier, and it ensures our students start each morning with what they need to feel good and do their best. Our team loves taking care of the kids in our community, and we’re excited to keep serving meals they enjoy.”

CEP is a non-pricing meal service option for school districts in low-income areas, allowing them to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students.
