Georgetown County School District will return to normal operations on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
GCSD's Superintendent Finalists Community Meet & Greet scheduled for Monday, September 16 has been moved to Tuesday, September 17. The Meet & Greet will be held in the boardroom of the JB Beck Administration & Education Center from 6:30-7:15 p.m.

In an abundance of caution due to expected inclement weather, including the potential for damaging winds and flash flooding, all GCSD schools and facilities will be CLOSED on Monday, September 16, 2024. All school activities, including athletic events and practices, scheduled for Monday, September 16 are canceled/postponed.
GCSD is an approved eLearning district; however, a decision has been made to schedule eLearning for Monday, October 7, 2024, a designated makeup day on the 2024-2025 GCSD School Calendar. This will allow time for schools and teachers to plan instructional activities and ensure that students have needed devices and/or learning packets. Prior to October 7, specific instructions will be communicated regarding eLearning expectations, the due date for assignments, and teacher office hours.
GCSD district administration will continue to monitor conditions across our county. We expect a return to normal operations on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. An official notice confirming the return to normal operations will be emailed on Monday afternoon. Please check local media, the district website, and our social media page for the latest information on school closings or delays.

Dr. Bethany Giles, GCSD’s Interim Superintendent, is bringing students and leadership together with #FreeThrowFridays! Eight students from each high school are invited for an open chat while completing basketball drills and games. Real conversations, real perspectives.

As previously announced, GCSD schools will be open today. We recognized that Georgetown County has received an unexpected amount of rainfall overnight which has resulted in flooding and a loss of power in some areas.
Buses will operate today but may be late arriving at some bus stops. Additionally, there are a few isolated areas that our buses may not be able to access.
GCSD does not want anyone to put themselves in danger in order to travel to school. Please do not travel unless it is safe for you to do so. Any weather related tardies or absences will be excused.
All GCSD schools and offices will resume normal operations, including after-school activities, on Friday, August 9, 2024.
