Have you heard about Melissa Jefferson-Wooden — our newest Olympic gold medalist? 🥇🔥Melissa Jefferson-Wooden with the some of the staff of Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy, taken the week before Thanksgiving.🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
On Friday, November 21st, our students took a trip to Hobcaw Barony in Georgetown. There, they learned about coastal ecology and Hobcaw's history through interactive programs, and the Discovery Center.
They got an up-close and personal introduction to an alligator, explored a saltwater touch tank, and checked out other live animal displays at the Discovery Center. Finally, they took a boat tour and had a lesson on the natural ecosystems of the South Carolina coast, and the importance of the marine life in the area.🐊🐟
What a great way to make learning fun and engaging for our kids!

What an inspiring 3 days we had with ArtsNow! 🎭✨On November 19th through November 21st, students and teachers dove into course content through drama and had an absolute blast — creativity, teamwork, and deeper learning all rolled into one experience. Our 8th grade scholars in Ms. Graham’s ELA course have been diving deep into their poetry unit, and their poetry slam was a HUGE success! 🎤📖 Through thoughtful writing and powerful performances, students showcased creativity, confidence, and emotional expression. We are so proud of how they brought their words to life and supported one another through the process. Our Junior Beta Club proudly volunteered with Ms. Jolla Powell and Operation Christmas Child to help spread joy this holiday season! 🎁❤️ Our students worked together to collect and prepare items for shoebox gifts that will be sent to children in need around the world. Their selflessness, teamwork, and dedication to service truly reflect the spirit of Beta. We are so proud of our Betas for giving back and making a difference, one box at a time!

The Bear-A-Thon is where our students shine! It is an interactive event where students showcase the application of their learning through projects and demonstrations across various subjects and our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) focus. You will have a chance to:
See student presentations demonstrating their mastery of key concepts.
View innovative projects they have designed and created.
Observe hands-on activities that highlight their critical thinking and collaborative skills.
This showcase is a powerful way to celebrate their growth and success.

Data With Dads was a huge success yesterday at CBMSA! Our dads, father figures, and male mentors showed up with pride and purpose as they enjoyed breakfast, connected with their students, and explored the importance of data and academic growth. The room was filled with great conversations, smiles, and meaningful moments that highlighted just how powerful family engagement can be.

Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy Participates in Relay for Education 2025
Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy’s Team Bear Blazers proudly participated in the 2025 Relay for Education event, joining schools from across Georgetown County to celebrate education and raise funds for college scholarships for graduating seniors who plan to pursue careers in education.
It was a morning filled with energy, unity, and school spirit as our Bears walked in support of future educators and lifelong learners. The event highlighted the importance of community, collaboration, and investing in the next generation of teachers.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our faculty, staff, students, and families who contributed to our fundraising efforts and represented Carvers Bay with pride. Your commitment continues to make a difference.

This has been a great way to help keep, and turn our students into life-long readers! Our Media Specialist Mrs. Smith stated, "The Bear Book Buffet has been a huge success!
