Attention BIG BLUE Families:
From Ms. Irvin and Ms. Owens
We at GMS want to help families in need by providing non-perishable items for Thanksgiving meals. Ms. Owens is partnering with the Student Council to host a Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive. All donations will be given to Helping Hands. Students will bring donations to their 6th-grade teacher, and we will come around during homeroom to collect donations. Note from Mr. Barron's desk:
Yesterday, the boys and girls' cross country teams traveled to Stables Park in Pawleys Island for the Region 5-3A Cross Country Championship meet. The girls' team just missed out on winning, falling short by one point to Waccamaw in a close race. The boys placed 3rd overall.
Once again, our GMS athletes raced well and earned some recognition in their first trip to Regions. The following athletes made All-Region Top 7 out of our 28 runners:
Bailee Jordan (7th Grade) - 4th Place Overall
Peyton Wilder (7th grade) - 6th Place Overall
River Smith (8th Grade) - 7th Place Overall
For the boys, Thomas Palafox (8th Grade) and Brantley Gibson (8th Grade) ran a competitive race.
Brantley turned in his best time of the season, clocking a time of 22:54, which is a 3-minute personal best.
The next race will be next Saturday, Nov. 8th, at Newberry for the State Qualifier.
