💜 THANK YOU FOR PURPLING UP! 💜

Yesterday April 22, 2026 Waccamaw Elementary School proudly celebrated the Month of the Military Child by wearing purple in support of our military-connected students and families.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us recognize and honor our military-connected students and the sacrifices their families make each day. Your support made this celebration extra special!

💜 PURPLE UP! 💜

Governor Henry McMaster has proclaimed April as the Month of the Military Child, also known as “Purple Up! For Military Kids” in South Carolina.

Georgetown County School District has designated April 22 as our day to celebrate and honor students whose parents serve and protect our country. 🇺🇸

Waccamaw Elementary School invites all students, faculty, and staff to wear PURPLE on April 22 to show support for our military families.

Let’s come together and show our appreciation! 💜

A bold purple poster reads “PURPLE UP!” in large stylized letters. Below it, a banner says “Month of the Military Child.” The text underneath states: “April is Month of the Military Child. Wear purple on April 22, 2026 to celebrate and honor our military families.” At the bottom, large text reads “APRIL 22.”
Yesterday, we were honored to welcome our Superintendent Dr. Giles , Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Forrest, and Director of Human Resources Scott Batton to read with our students! Their visit helped inspire a love of reading and highlighted the importance of literacy in our school community.

Thank you for supporting our students and making reading a priority! 💙📖

🐬❄️ Earlier This Month, Waccamaw Made a Splash! ❄️🐬

At the beginning of the month, Team Waccamaw Elementary took part in the Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics South Carolina — and what an amazing day it was! 💙

Our brave plungers dove into the ocean showing true Dolphin pride, and we were especially excited to have Splash the Dolphin there cheering on Team Waccamaw Elementary every step (and splash!) of the way. 🐬🙌

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and shared our fundraising page with family and friends. Your support helps provide life-changing opportunities for athletes with special needs — at no cost to them or their families.

📊 Team Highlights:
💰 Total Raised: $2, 625
👥 Total Team Participants: 14

We are so proud of our Dolphin community for coming together to support such an important cause. Thank you for helping us make waves! 💙
