Candy DNA Models in Mrs. Britt's class! Students in Mrs Britt's biology class created hands-on candy models to demonstrate the processes of DNA replication and protein synthesis. Using different candies to represent DNA bases, nucleotides, and amino acids, students modeled how DNA unwinds and copies itself and how genetic information is transcribed and translated into proteins. This engaging activity helped students visualize complex molecular processes while reinforcing key vocabulary and sequencing steps.

✨ Building a Culture of Respect at AHS! 🐝 Our faculty has been working hard to create their Social Contracts, an important part of building a positive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment. A Social Contract is simply an “agreement of behavior.” AHS will be implementing Social Contracts in all classrooms, giving students and teachers the opportunity to work together to establish expectations for how everyone wants to be treated. The questions are simple: 1️⃣ How do you want to be treated by me, the leader (teacher)? 2️⃣ How do you want to treat each other? 3️⃣ How do you think I, the leader (teacher), want to be treated by you? 4️⃣ How do you want to treat each other when there is conflict? Students and teachers will work together to create their Social Contracts by this Friday. Our AHS administration also took the time to create a Social Contract with our teachers because we believe in modeling the expectations we have for our students. At AHS, we are committed to creating a school culture built on respect, accountability, communication, and relationships. Attention Yellow Jackets!! Important to know. Only 40 spots available. It's free. Chance to improve SAT scores which can help with college entrance and acceptance as well as the opportunity to be considered for scholarships. We will be creating sign up sheets in the student Google Classrooms. This workshop is currently being offered for 11th and 12th graders. Again, spots are limited. Students have until Friday to sign up. There will be a meeting next Tuesday 8/18 at 6:00pm for the parents and students who have signed up. The link will be posted tomorrow.

Please do not drop off or pick up students in our student parking lot. This area is designated for our student drivers who have purchased a parking pass only. 🐝The Andrews High School Dress Code! Let's dress for success! 🐝The electronic device policy! No electronic devices during the school day. 🐝Parking Passes. Students should have purchased their parking passes last week. Monitors will be out in the parking lot making sure all vehicles have the correct parking pass. (Towing will be enforced at the vehicle owners expense beginning this week).
