What a fantastic day at the Hemingway Fall Festival! 🎉 Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy was proud to share brochures, treats, and campus tour info for both CB Middle STEAM and Carvers Bay Early College & Career High School. We loved answering questions and meeting families from the community — thanks to everyone who stopped by! 🍎✨

At Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy, we are committed to maintaining a safe, structured, and productive learning environment for all students. To support this commitment, we would like to remind our Bear families of our Tardy and Student ID Policy and the importance of arriving to class on time and wearing school-issued identification daily.

Our schoolwide expectation is simple:

🐻 Be On Time. Be Identified. Be Ready!

⏰ TARDY EXPECTATIONS

Students are expected to arrive at school and report to all classes on time.

Students who arrive at school after 8:45 a.m. must report to the front office to check in.

Students who are late to class must report to the front office before being admitted to class.

🪪 STUDENT ID EXPECTATIONS

All students are required to wear their school-issued ID visibly throughout the school day.

Students who forget their ID may obtain a temporary ID from the front office.

Temporary IDs obtained before the 8:45 a.m. bell will not count as an offense.

Students will not be permitted outside without their permanent school-issued ID.

⚠️ PROGRESSIVE CONSEQUENCES

Students who repeatedly fail to follow the tardy and ID expectations will be subject to the following progressive consequences:

1st Offense: Documented Warning

2nd Offense: Student Responsibility Note / Accountability Contract

3rd Offense: Parent/Guardian Contact

4th Offense: 1 Day Lunch Detention

5th Offense: Administrative Referral and 1 Day ISS

6th Offense: Administrative Referral and 2 Days ISS

7th Offense: Administrative Referral and OSS (Out-of-School Suspension)

❤️ HOW FAMILIES CAN HELP

We ask that parents and guardians partner with us by reminding students to check for their school ID before leaving home, arrive at school on time, and transition promptly between classes.

These expectations are designed to promote student safety, accountability, responsibility, and academic success.

Please review the attached Tardy and ID Policy flyer with your student so that everyone understands our expectations and procedures.

🍳 On the Menu: Grits, eggs, sausage, and pastries, prepared by our wonderful School Café!

📢 IMPORTANT: Students planning to enjoy breakfast with their dad or father figure should wait until 9:15 AM to go through the cafeteria line so they can eat together.

Next stop for our Student Council: Leadership! At the SCASC District 2 Rally, our Student Council got to discover the greatest magic of all… leadership! At the D2 Rally, our bears attended workshops, engaged in activities, and networked with student councils from other schools in District 2. Our bears have their wands up and are ready to serve, lead, and inspire. 🪄

What an incredible experience for our student leaders in Student Council! 💛 Our students had the opportunity to attend the Southern Association of Student Councils (SASC)Conference in Blythewood, SC, where they connected with student leaders from across the region, gained valuable leadership skills, shared ideas, and were inspired to make a difference in their schools and communities.
We are so proud of these students for representing our school, stepping outside their comfort zones, and embracing opportunities to grow as leaders! Two of our student leaders had the opportunity to serve on the project review committee. Experiences like these remind us that leadership is not just about having a title — it’s about serving others, building connections, and making a positive impact. 🌟

🎬🎥 Lights, Camera, CREATIVITY! 🎨✨

Our Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy 8th-grade SC GEAR UP students enrolled in Media Arts courses took their creativity on the road to Charleston, SC, for the AfroSouth Kreative Kitchen 2026! 🌟

Our young creatives participated in the Young Filmmakers Story Conference and four interactive workshops focused on animation, filmmaking, video production, and media arts! 🎞️🎤💻

Through hands-on experiences and engaging sessions with industry professionals, our Bears explored exciting creative careers, strengthened their storytelling skills, and discovered how their talents can open doors to incredible future opportunities! 🚀

✨ Students were also exposed to an amazing network of creative professionals, presenters, and organizations, including the Auntie Karen Foundation, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, and other talented industry professionals! The experience was made even more exciting by a special appearance from renowned fashion designer Sergio Hudson! 👏🏽🌟

These experiences remind our students that careers in film, animation, fashion, digital media, and the creative arts are not just dreams—they are REAL possibilities! ❤️💛🖤

Our 8th grade scholars at Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy will take the PSAT/NMSQT assessment on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Testing will take place on Chromebooks.

Please help your scholar prepare for a successful testing day with these reminders:

Go to bed early Tuesday night so you arrive rested and ready.

Eat breakfast Wednesday morning to fuel your focus.

Please make every effort to arrive at school by 7:45 a.m. to allow time to settle in before testing.

Listen carefully to directions and ask questions if instructions are unclear.

Read each question carefully, stay focused, and give your best effort.

Parents, thank you for encouraging your scholar and helping them arrive on time and prepared. Students, take a deep breath, believe in yourself, and let your hard work shine!
