Please see our themed activities for the week below:
Monday, May 11th – Mindful Monday
Students may participate in journaling activities in the cafeteria focused on gratitude, goals, and positive thoughts.
Tuesday, May 12th – Mood and Mind Snacks
Students will enjoy granola bars and yogurt during lunch as we promote healthy habits for the mind and body.
Wednesday, May 13th – Dogs Leave Paw Prints on Your Heart
Students will have the opportunity to pet a dog during recess as we highlight the calming benefits animals can provide.
Thursday, May 14th – Inside Out Day
Students may wear their clothes inside out or wear Inside Out movie-themed clothing to promote emotional awareness and expression.
Friday, May 15th – Break the Stigma and Green Out
Students and staff are encouraged to wear green in support of Mental Health Awareness Month and to help break the stigma surrounding mental health.
We are excited to celebrate this important week together and encourage everyone to be kind to their minds and kind to each other.
It's National School Nurse Day! Join us in thanking Nurse Pam Dozier for everything she does at Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy!🩺❤️ From managing chronic conditions and providing first aid to leading 4‑H gardening, supervising lunch and recess, and teaching healthy habits; Nurse Dozier supports our students every step of the way. 🍎⚽

What an awesome visit we had from our future 6th graders on yesterday! 🎉 Fifth-grade classes toured Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy, met our 6th-grade teachers, explored the Library, and got hands-on in Exploratory Hall. Our AVID leaders guided them through the halls, and AP Dr. Poston and Guidance Counselor Mrs. Tucker spoke with them in the Auditorium. Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy proudly presents Disney’s THE LION KING JR. — two special school performances on Wednesday, May 20 (9:00 AM for elementary schools; 1:30 PM for senior citizens, business & community partners) and a LIVE public performance on Wednesday, May 27 at 5:30 PM. Both performances will take place at Carvers Bay Early College and Career High School. Tickets for the public at the 5:30 show are $3.00.

Did you know April is the Month of the Military Child? 💜 Governor McMaster proclaimed it “Purple Up! For Military Kids” in South Carolina. GCSD will celebrate on April 22 — we’re asking all faculty, staff, and students to wear PURPLE to show support for students with service-member parents.

Parents and 7th & 8th grade families: mark your calendars for Friday, April 24th, 6:00–9:00 PM for our formal Spring Fling at Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy. Light refreshments will be served. Ticket prices vary based on iReady lessons passed (0–9: $45; 10–19: $40; 20–29: $35; 30–39: $30; 40+: $25). Tickets sold during lunches on Wednesdays & Fridays from March 16–April 17.
Important reminders:
Permission slip + payment due by April 17 (all outstanding fees paid by April 3).
Behavior matters — referrals leading to OSS from Mar 16 may disqualify attendance.
Only CBMSA 7th & 8th graders may attend. Formal, school-appropriate attire required.
Parents must come inside to sign out students at 9:00 PM. A school resource officer will be present and GCSD rules enforced.
