Important Dates:

Monday, Oct. 26: Start bringing pumpkins to the library.

Thursday, Oct. 29, at 8:00 a.m.: Last chance to enter! Judging takes place that day.

Friday, Oct. 30: Winners announced and pumpkins sent home.

Real and fake pumpkins are welcome, but NO CARVED PUMPKINS, please!

Colorful flyer announcing Waccamaw Elementary School’s Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Winners will be announced, and all pumpkins will be sent home on Friday, October 30. Contest rules: Pumpkins may be real or fake and must represent a book character. No carved, poked, or hollowed-out pumpkins are allowed. Decorations such as paint, fabric, and glue are welcome. Each pumpkin must be small enough for the student to carry and include an index card with the book title, student’s name and grade, and teacher’s name. One entry per student. Today was a GOLDEN day at Waccamaw Elementary! 🐬🎉

Our Dolphins celebrated the 50th day of our 50th school year with golden outfits, special photo opportunities, festive decorations, and a sweet birthday treat during lunch! 🎂

From the smiles and laughter to the blue-and-gold celebrations throughout our school, it was a wonderful day honoring **50 Years of Excellence** at WES!

A special thank-you to our cafeteria staff for helping make the day extra sweet and to everyone who helped bring this celebration to life! 💙💛🐬

🚒🔥 Fire Safety Fun at WES! 🔥🚒

Our Dolphins had a wonderful time learning about fire safety and prevention during this week’s visit from our local firefighters! ❤️

Students learned important fire safety lessons in the classroom and had the opportunity to get an up-close look at the fire trucks and equipment. 🚒👨‍🚒

A BIG thank you to our firefighters for taking the time to visit Waccamaw Elementary, teach our students, answer their questions, and help them learn how to stay safe. We appreciate all you do for our community! 💙💛🐬

Yesterday, Waccamaw Elementary had the privilege of welcoming Olympian and World Champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden for a very special visit with our students.

Melissa shared a powerful message about never giving up on your dreams—and never giving up on yourself. She reminded our Dolphins that even the strongest people need a village and encouraged them to lean on one another for help, encouragement, support, and motivation.

During the assembly, our students joined Melissa in reciting “The Village Creed”: a commitment to dream big, work hard, keep trying when things get difficult, believe they can do hard things, and, most importantly, believe in themselves.

We are grateful to Melissa for sharing her story, her encouragement, and her time with our Waccamaw family. We hope our Dolphins carry her message with them long after this special visit. 🏅💙💛

This past Friday, our WES Dolphins came together to recognize Patriot Day. Students and staff wore red, white, and blue, participated in classroom activities, and learned about the importance of kindness, courage, unity, and helping others.

As a school, we also observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and in honor of the heroes and first responders who showed extraordinary courage that day.
