Announcement: GCSD Schools and Facilities Closed January 23, 2025
Due to continued below-freezing temperatures and the potential for icy roads and unsafe travel conditions, all GCSD schools and facilities will be CLOSED on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
This will be a traditional school closure, meaning no eLearning assignments or learning packets will be provided. A make-up date for Thursday’s closure will be announced at a later time.
All extracurricular and afterschool activities, including athletic competitions and practices, are also canceled or postponed for Thursday.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We are working closely with local and state officials to monitor road conditions. A decision regarding GCSD’s operational status for Friday will be announced on Thursday.

This decision, made in consultation with the National Weather Service and Georgetown County Emergency Management, is based on anticipated wintry precipitation and the potential for hazardous driving conditions.

As a reminder, all afterschool activities, including athletic competitions and practices, are canceled or postponed for Tuesday, January 21, 2025. All students will need to dismiss at 12:15pm.

Elementary Schools: 11:00 a.m.
Intermediate School: 11:15 a.m.

Happy New Year! We hope that your family enjoyed a restful and joyful winter break. As we begin a new semester, we are excited to welcome back our students and continue our learning, growing, and success journey. Students will report to their 1st Block class tomorrow. There will be signs around the building showing the location of 1st block classes.
To ensure a smooth and focused start, we’d like to remind everyone of the updated Electronic Device Policy, which will take effect Jan. 7th. This policy is designed to create an optimal learning environment free from unnecessary distractions:
Students are not permitted to use personal electronic devices, including cell phones, smartwatches, personal laptops/tablets and earbuds, during the school day.
All devices must remain off and stored securely in lockers from the start of the first period until the end of the last period.
Devices may be used only before school and after dismissal.
